Twister commercial grain bins offer a capacity of up to 49,734 bushels for a 38’ hopper bin and up to 68,462 bushels for a 44’ commercial flat bottom bin.

Custom support brackets will also be manufactured for use with the conveyors and walkways that are to be used in your particular elevator.

Commercial Grain Elevator Standard Features

While each job is unique, there are standard features that will never change.

All structural components are powder paint coated and baked in a 400 degree oven, or hot dipped galvanized for extreme weather conditions such as commercial grain elevators near salt water or in very wet and humid areas. Each bfacility not only looks fantastic, but will stand up to the test of time and exposure to a wide variety of extreme weather.

Each silo has been designed with a hill and valley bolting system that allows for exceptional hoop strength. And all of Twister’s wall sheets are manufactured from 50,000psi minimum yield strength steel guaranteeing the strongest bin available.

Grain Bin Stiffeners

In order to further maximize the strength of the bin or hopper, Twister has specially designed heavy ‘W’ stiffeners to add additional support. Stiffeners are placed on the entire length to increase the strength, allowing use for any grain or pulse crop. These stiffeners can be installed on the exterior or the interior, whichever you prefer.

Pound for pound a stiffened bin is stronger, and that is why every Twister silo comes fully stiffened. Once the bin is erect you can choose to install the stiffeners on the inside or the exterior, whatever you choose. Each stiffener is corrugated which allows a seamless fit with the wall, meaning that the chance of grain hang up is completely eliminated and you can store any grain or pulse crop without fear of any wastage. A stiffened bin is strong enough for air drying or use with an aeration system without any additional support.

Other standard grain silo features include:

• Grade 8 bolts that are coated for exceptional corrosion resistance coupled with weather resistant washers to create an excellent seal.

Galfan Steel Means Longer Life

Because bins are exposed to all of the harshest elements out in the field, you need one that can stand up to the weather. That is why Twister began using Galfan steel since 2002 in order to offer customers the best protection possible. Galfan is a Zinc 5% Aluminum alloy with a mischmetal addition that, when applied as a coating on steel, offers an improvement over the performance of regular or lead-free galvanized steel. Galfan is a special formulation steel that performs better than regular galvanized steel in many areas, particularly that of corrosion resistance. The result is a bin that will last twice as long as another bin that has been manufactured from other galvanized products.
